The SpearPillar Introduction

Hello and welcome to the SpearPillar Region Rumble. My name is SirSmoke, the founder and host of SpearPillar. I have had the privilege of speaking with many of you during our tournaments and battling against many of you during limitless tours. Some of you, I have even met in person at Regionals!

Grassroot events such as this series are some of my favorite events to support and run because they are often the beginnings of many players' journeys. These journeys foster new relationships with other players that otherwise may have never happened.

We’ve all seen newer players during the Switch Gaming era join our community and become some of the brightest stars alongside many who have been playing the Pokemon VGC since the beginnings of the competitive circuit.

Thank you for your time and participation in the Summer 2024 Season of SpearPillar Region Rumble!

-SirSmoke

League Overview

The SpearPillar Region Rumble is a Pokemon VGC Series Consisting of six Region Teams. These teams are North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia/Pacific, Oceania, and Global.  Our league strives to bring out the best of its players in a competitive, yet welcoming environment. Although your weekly battles will be against one opponent, community building amongst your teammates and leaguemates is greatly encouraged to get the most out of the SpearPillar Region Rumble experience. This rules book will provide you with an overview of how the SpearPillar staff and league will operate during our season. Like many other grassroot tour leagues, situations can come up at any time. In those unfortunate situations, disputes between players during the league’s runtime will be referred to the guidelines set within this book. Possible solutions to each category will also be provided to give complete transparency to the SpearPillar staff’s decision making process. If there are any further questions not mentioned within this book, please feel free to ask a SpearPillar admin in our Discord and we will get back to you! Good luck!

  1. The Qualifier Stage will be a Swiss Round limitless tournament where the Top 10 Players from that event will be selected to represent their region (**Note: You must be from a region to play on their team. IE a player from the USA can only play on team North America.)

  2. Team Managers will be selected by the Tournament Host. If you are interested however, feel free to reach out to Sir.Smoke on Discord.

  3. Team Managers will be in charge of roster movements of the 10 players for their region. Each team has 5 active players, and 5 reserve players which will need to be adjusted depending on region matchups, availability, etc.

    1. An example of a managers requirements for the week would look like:

      1. Week Start Sunday, Region Pairings Posted

      2. Submit Player List Monday Before 5:00 PM EDT (5 Active Players, 5 inactive), and ensure that each player plays a minimum of 2 games per season. Players will have all week from Monday to Sunday at 10 PM EST

      3. Ensure the team has submitted their weekly submissions (for more information, see “Weekly Result Submissions & Requirements” section)

      4. End Week Sunday

  4. Once all Region teams reach 10 players and teams have been finalized. We will move on to the Round Robin Phase

Round Robin Stage

  1. Each Region Will be paired up to battle each other twice per season before the next phase of the tournament. This stage is 10 Events (weeks) long and will run throughout the course of the week (Players schedule their own matchups). The top 4 regions in points will advance to the Top 4, Double Elimination Phase of the tournament

  2. Region Pairings are posted on Sunday. Players participating in the event (5 total) must be submitted by the manager by Monday at 5:00 PM EST.

  3. Competitors will have from Monday 5:00 PM EST to Sunday

  4. Regions compete each week in a Best-of-5 set. Regions are paired against each other (I.E. North America vs. Europe, Latin America vs. Oceania, Global vs. Asia/Pacific) & 5 players from each region will be paired against each other in a BO3 set, whoever wins, earns a point towards their Region’s BO5 set.

Top 4 Single Elimination Stage

The top 4 regions will advance to compete in a single elimination phase of the tournament. 1st Seed plays 4th Seed, 2nd Seed Plays 3rd Seed. This stage is only one week long. The 2 region winners of each top 4 match will advance to the Region Rumble Finals!

Region Rumble Finals

The finals are a single elimination event. The Best-of-five set is similarly structured to previous phases, where players from each region play a BO3 set, and the winner earns a win towards their region's BO5 set. Whoever wins the Region BO5 Set is the Winner of this year’s season of Region Rumble!

Inactivity & Substitutions

In order to assure that all players are on time and acting respectfully of other players’ time during the league, these are the rules for inactivity and the guidelines for how substitutions will work. Players are ultimately responsible for the commitments that they make with their teammates and opponents. Breaking these commitments will not be tolerated. Here at SpearPillar, we understand that emergencies can arise during the league’s runtime and ask that you refer to the Substitutions section to make sure that your manager and SpearPillar Staff can take care of the situation as smoothly as possible. It is HIGHLY encouraged that players record their matches or take screenshots as everything below will require screenshot proof to be sent to their managers and SpearPIllar Staff before any actions are taken.

*Substitutions

  1. A player that is unable to play their scheduled match for whatever reason AND has informed their opponent, their manager, and SpearPillar Staff 24 hours BEFORE the scheduled match takes place is entitled to a substitute if available without punishment. If the substitute is called within 24 hours, the opponent’s manager may also substitute their player if they wish and are able to. Any player can be a substitute if they are:

    1. On the same Region team.

    2. Is not scheduled to play that week.

Sportsmanship & General Conduct

SpearPillar is dedicated to creating and maintaining a welcome, yet competitive, environment for everyone competing. With this, we ask that all players, managers, and staff be as respectful as possible to each other so that we can all enjoy the Region Rumble Experience. Below are basic sportsmanship and general conduct rules that we expect each player to follow. Any instances where a player is caught breaking these rules may be subject to warnings, match forfeits, being timed out from competing temporarily, or permanent expulsion from SpearPillar based on severity of the offense and the number of previous offenses. Rules broken here will be handled on a case-by-case basis so anything that is not mentioned below that is especially egregious is still subject to penalties at the SpearPillar Staff’s discretion.

  1. Players must follow all Discord server rules located in #rules.

  2. No harassing or insulting other players, managers, or staff within the Discord server or any other social media platform or events.

  3. No using alt accounts when participating in the SpearPIllar Region Rumble.

  4. Win Trading is not allowed in the SpearPillar Region Rumble.

    1. Win Trading is when one party agrees to purposely lose a match for whatever reason.

  5. Ghosting or any other forms of gaining external information is not allowed while a League match is being played.

    1. Ghosting is when an outside observer provides information, strategy, or ANY other forms of help that the player wouldn’t have otherwise.

    2. This includes Twitch chat, stream sniping, and other players disclosing information for any player’s possible benefit.

  6. Players with two or more inactivity penalties are subject to expulsion from the team by their manager at any time. (Manager will be allowed to select a replacement from the Qualifier Stage Player Pool for their Region)
