March Events: New England VGC

The local scene has been thriving with all of the new Tournament Organizers in New England! We’ve got 3 Midseason Showdowns this month alone. We also have a Global Challenge and a regional closer to the West Coast. Events have been drama free, and players have been getting closer and closer to their World invites.

Let’s take a look at the upcoming New England VGC local events.

Weekend of March 2nd/3rd

The second of three Global Challenges kicks off this weekend with players completing a series of 45 total Best-of-One ladder matches at home to reach the highest possible ladder ranking. Players are not required to play all 45 games.

Weekend of March 9th/10th

Unsettled Geeks is back at it againt! This gaming venue is on the 2nd floor of The Shoppes at Buckland Hills. These events will be Bo3 Swiss, and Bo3 Top Cut. There’s a chance Cesar makes the Premier Challenge Bo1 Swiss, Bo3 Top Cut due to timing. This event is organized by Cesar, the owner of Unsettled Geeks. Cesar is one of the OG Video Game TOs going back to the pre-COVID era of Pokemon locals in New England.

Be prepared to have an awesome time. Head down to Fall River, MA, and play in the intimate Awesome Gaming and Collectibles venue. While the location may be small, their sheer number of Pokemon events is mighty! This venue will typically cap at 16-20 players for events so be sure to sign up early! This will be a Bo3 Swiss, Bo3 Top Cut Premier Challenge. This event is organized by the Awesome Gaming Management. Awesome Gaming is one of the OG venues for VGC locals pre-COVID.

Weekend of March 16th/17th

A return to Excelsior Comics and Games in Maynard, MA! This event is a Bo3 Swiss, Bo3 Top Cut Premier Challenge. Excelsior is a comfy venue with a 24-32 player cap. A large array of snacks and drinks are available as well as local restaurants and food nearby! This is a community gaming center, a mom-and-pop type shop that is open and inclusive to all. This event is organized by Chalkey H.

We’re shipping up to Boston near the Boston University campus to visit Balance Patch! A one-of-a-kind eSports Cafe and play space. This cafe and eatery boasts an extensive tasty menu as well as full computer set ups for players looking to get some gaming on after the VGC event! This event is a Bo3 Swiss, Bo3 Top Cut Midseason Showdown hosted by Marshall and G3rd (Andrew).

Weekend of March 23rd/24th

Vancouver is finally upon us to resume the chase for Worlds. Hosted by Gallery Games, this event, coveted by many players, will be an exciting event to watch as players continue to develop the Regulation F metagame.

We’re headed back to Leominster for Leaf’s first Midseason Showdown. Although, players should note the event will be occuring downstairs rather than on the first floor like before. This event will be a Bo3 Swiss, Bo3 Top Cut Midseason Showdown. No cap for this event at the time of writing.

A 2nd chance Premier Challenge also hosted by Leaf in Leominster! This event will be registration on-site only, following the Midseason Showdown.

Weekend of march 30th/31st

At the time of writing, no event have been scheduled this weekend in New England. However, if you’re looking to travel, the New Jersey/New York area have MANY events during March as well!

March is another big month for Championship Points!

Between all the different local events and the Global Challenge II, go get some CP, Trainers!
