This Is Why Pokemon Champions Is the Most Important Title in VGC History
Listen, I don’t want to alarm anyone, but as of writing, we are just a few weeks away from Pokemon Day. Which means impending news on Pokemon Champions, and maybe, just maybe, a release date. With fingers crossed and knocks on wood, this title will release in a playable state, and soon. Mr. Pikachu in all his glory shall hold the servers together, like the ice that desperately clung to the bottom of your soda cup as you watched Iron Lung.
With Pokemon Champions’ release, hundreds, thousands, or perhaps even millions of Pokemon fans will be battling hand in hand, mano a mano, as the great Mr. Satoshi Tajiri intended almost 30 years ago.
With its mobile port, trainers will battle while on the train, at the park, at home, or even at the dinner table with your grandma, who probably couldn’t tell you the difference between Pikachu and Eevee, let alone name them both.
Pokemon Champions Shall Open VGC to the Common Gamer… and That’s Groundbreaking!
We’re about to live in a world where mobile could be the biggest place for VGC players on the go.
For all intents and purposes, Pokemon Champions will be the most important piece of software in VGC history. I mean that with full sincerity, exclamation, and seriousness, as a bona fide, written-in-stone, cold, hard fact.
Suddenly, casual fans will be able to experience an accessible and visually appealing way to battle to their heart’s content. All on the same device where over 27 million people have played Pokemon GO. Not to mention those same Pokemon they caught in GO can almost immediately be used in Champions.
Think of a future where anyone can grind the ladder with their new friend they caught while on a casual stroll through town. That annoying coworker will start quoting Wolfe Glick and preach that Incineroar is actually the greatest thing since sliced bread. All because the same device they doomscroll TikTok on allowed them to catch and battle all the Pokemon they wanted for the price of ever so close to free.
Capture and Compete All on One Device? Sign Me Up!
By linking Pokemon GO to Pokemon HOME, your mobile device becomes a one stop shop for VGC with Pokemon Champions.
I don’t think I can stress this enough, especially with Pokemon Champions becoming the competitive platform for VGC going into Worlds and beyond. This title will make competitive Pokemon battling accessible to everyone, even for the most casual connoisseurs of the franchise. More so than all the guides recorded by everyone from YoungsterJoey67 to WolfeyVGC.
Soon, everyone will have the ability to compete on the grand stage of VGC with any Pokemon they captured in Pokemon GO, all on one device. With Pokemon Champions’ release, anyone will have a chance to rock the world with the next Pachirisu moment.
And yet, what’s there to complain about? Do you guys not have phones?
